How 4Kscore® Can Help Your Patients Who Present With Age-Specific Elevated PSA
The 4Kscore® Test is a blood test that provides a personalized risk assessment for aggressive (Gleason ≥7 / Grade Group ≥2) prostate cancer. It is intended for use in men with an age-stratified elevated PSA (prostate specific antigen) or suspicious nodule on DRE (digital rectal exam) who are considering whether to proceed to prostate biopsy.
By combining the results of four kallikrein biomarkers, along with clinical information, such as age, DRE result (if available), and prior biopsy history (if any), the 4Kscore Test indicates the likelihood of finding aggressive prostate cancer, and helps healthcare providers and patients make more informed shared decisions whether a biopsy is beneficial.

Why the Biopsy Decision Matters
Prostate biopsy is not a benign procedure.
While it remains the diagnostic gold standard, it carries potential risks and downstream consequences, including:
- Infection and sepsis
- Hematuria and hematospermia
- Urinary retention
- Overdiagnosis of indolent disease that may not require treatment
Clinical guidelines increasingly emphasize risk stratification before biopsy, especially in men with modest PSA elevations.
